Stages and features of the project
Specifics of the project are mainly related to the definition of the various parameters of production and products, and the complex relations between the various international SKF divisions. The project started in June 2003 and the first stage was completed in August 2003. The implementation of the integrated information system was done in five stages, each with an average duration of about 2 months. The main modules of the system were implemented consistently to move smoothly to the new solution. Complete system was launched in February 2004.
Main results
Work stages were logically consistent with the characteristics of the business processes in SKF Bulgaria and the changes in working methods introduced by the new owners. This concept allowed the client from the beginning:
- to use the system and to obtain the necessary information from it
- to develop the business processes simultaneously to the system, which leads to an efficient implementation of the changes planned.
As a result, all previously set objectives were achieved and build a single integrated information environment among all units of the company.
The system is used by 200 users running 50 competitive workplaces, situated in 5 separate units.
Important advantages of the project are short terms for development and implementation - 12 months. This was possible because of the good cooperation between the team of AS Systems and the working group established by the client, and due to the perfect requirements for the system and towards developed procedures formed by the customer.
Perspectives
The main part of the project was completed in early 2004. The development of the work processes in SKF Bulgaria led to a need for a new functionality in the system. In early 2005 a project for development of a clearance system has been started, integrated with the module Human Resource Management and Payroll. The company intends also to improve the planning process by developing a module for planning and management of production facilities in the future.
